Between the sessions, interest advocacy for expatriate Finns and Finns abroad is continued by the FEP Speakers’ council. It meets if possible twice a year in Helsinki at its Spring and Autumn Meetings.

The Speaker of the parliament is since 25.4.2019 Finland Society Chairman Markus Aaltonen. He follows in both roles Jarmo Virmavirta who was FEP Speaker 16.4.2013 – 25.4.2019. The eight deputy speakers of the Speakers’ council represent different global regions so that the whole world is covered. Also Swedish speaking Finns have their own deputy speaker.
